Date and Palm Strategy Planning Workshop
The strategy workshop was conducted on May 6, 2014. Invitations were sent out to almost 50 participants to attend the workshop including: core group members, key value chain actors in the cluster, Ministries, BSOs, NGOs, INGO’s and R&D institutions and universities.
The workshop started by presenting the Private Sector Development Cluster Project, what its aims are, its phases and the modality of its implementation. Moreover, the presentation provided information on dates production and markets worldwide, neighboring countries, along with details on the Palm and Date Cluster in Gaza. In addition to validate the results of the situation analysis conducted earlier encompassing 31 of the value chain actors, a SWOT and Gaps analysis were developed. The participants were divided into four Cluster Action Teams (CATs) to identify the activities for each area of improvement.
The CATs then prioritized the areas of Improvement which then became part of the overall cluster study.
By the end of the day the strategies were formulated and the activities for each area of improvement were identified.
